28th January 2018
Sunday School:
We are scheduled to start Sunday school next week, February 4. We are however still short some teachers in order to go ahead: 1. Grade 1-3: need two teachers 2. Grade 4-6: need two teachers. If you think you are willing to help, please come along to our teachers meeting this afternoon at 3:30pm and see what it is all about. Alternatively, please contact Franciska. You will need to have a Working With Children Check, be a member at church as well as complete Safe Church training. We will give you a four week mentorship program to help you adjust in your role as teacher.
Sunday School Teacher’s Meeting:
There will be a meeting in the hall at 3:30pm today for our SS teaching team. Thank you to those who have volunteered to do this important ministry.
Ministry Opportunities 2018:
It takes a large team to run ministries and to manage the practical side of maintaining a healthy and active church. Please consider the ways you can serve Jesus and contribute to the life and witness of the EPC community. Please place your response form in the box on the little table. Thank you to those who have already responded.
Next Servanthood Roster:
It is almost time for Melody to start putting the next roster together. For those of you who are new to the church, or who haven’t been on the roster before, the areas most in need of helpers are: collecting and counting the offering; church cleaning; morning tea and crèche. If you would like to help out, but would like more details before committing, please contact Melody, either after church, via email, or via the contact details on the News Sheet. This next period will cover the months of March, April and May. Please let Melody know by Monday February 5 , if there are dates which don’t suit you.
Growth Group Sign-Up:
Every two years or so we restructure our evening growth groups to broaden the number of people we get to know and have deeper Christian fellowship with. The sign-up sheet asks for you to list your preferences for Monday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings as well as listing the evenings that are not possible. The sign-up sheet with instruction is on the table in the foyer. (The evening groups are run separately from the Ladies Group, Young Adults and Evergreens.)
Open Table:
Open Table kicks off NEXT Sunday (Feb 4) with our Hamburger Night. 5.30pm in the hall. All you can eat ($6 for Adults, $4 for children and kids 3 and under eat free). Come along, invite your friends and RSVP ideally today but by Wednesday via the Connect Form or email opentable@elthampc.com.au. Thanks, and see you there!
Evergreens:
We will start again on February 7. As usual, our gathering on the first Wednesday of the month is for a Bible study, lead mostly by Don, and on the third Wednesday of the month we have a guest speaker, an afternoon of music, or perhaps a DVD. We always end with afternoon tea and a time of fellowship. If you would like more details, please speak to Sue Steendam, Nola Hawkes or Marie Van Ravesteyn. 1- 3:30 pm in the hall.
Craft Group:
Craft Group resumes this Friday, February 2 and everyone is welcome. Bring your sewing, knitting, cross stitch, etc. etc., and join us for an easy afternoon of fellowship from 1pm – 3:30 pm. Beginners are also welcome. Speak to Maggie Courts or Judy Flett for more details.
Safe Church Basic Training – save the dates:
For those who are looking to be newly involved in Children’s ministry or any leadership roles at EPC, Andy will be running this training starting this Thursday evening, February 1 and continuing next Thursday, February 8. Please see Andy to register.
