26th March 2017
Eldership Elections: The session is pleased to report that as a result of the elections there was a clear affirmation for all three men whose names were on the recent ballot. The session declared Robert Cameron, Ian Courts and David Graham to be elders-elect with May 7 the most likely date for their ordination and induction into the office. The formal procedure of reading the relevant Edict will happen during today’s service.
Kingdom Prayer Night: Moonday night, March 27, is our first Kingdom Prayer Night for 2017. This is a time for all Growth Groups to come together as one to pray for our outreach ministries and personal contacts with non-churched people. Evening groups are suspended for the week to make it easier for you to attend and seek God’s blessing in our desire for God to use us in growing the Kingdom of Jesus.
Prayer Group: Jesus told us to make disciples “as we are going” (Matt 28:19-20) and to “ask the Lord of the harvest to send labourers into His harvest” (Matt 9:37-38). This work is advanced on our knees. The focus of this group is to being praying for people in our individual neighbourhoods. We would love you to join us in prayer for half an hour each Thursday (for 5 more weeks) at Ian Sandham’s, at 4:30pm. Call Frank Mapperson if you can come or have questions.
DDT 2017: At long last we have a list of workshops for this year’s Deeper Discipleship Training events. The first two events in Term Two are: Bibway: A Road Map to the Bible. Pt1– April 30, A Theological Overveiw. Pt2—May 21, A Historical Overview. Reformation Theological Distinctives: Looking at core doctrines on the sovereignty of God and how we are saved by His power alone (June 18 & 25). These workshops are especially for anyone who has a teaching ministry at EPC and to make it easier for Sunday School teachers to attend we are planning to run them on Sunday afternoons rather than evenings.
Open Table: Open Table is happening tonight at 5.30pm in the Hall. Please contact Taimi if you have any last minute acceptances. Cost is $6 for adults; $4 for children; under 3s are free.
mainly music: Helen Cameron would like to hear from people who are willing to provide morning tea once a term, for this amazing ministry. We are so grateful for the help given in the (almost) three years we have been operating. Please contact Helen.
Funeral: There will be a funeral for long time member, Lil Thompson, at 11am, Wednesday the 29 th of March. While it has been a long time since Lil was able to attend church it would be great if EPC could be well represented as a mark of respect to her and comfort to the family.
Licencing & Ordination: Andy Buchan’s licencing and ordination will be held at EPC on Friday 21 st April at 7:30 pm. Supper will be served afterwards, so if you can help with providing food, please contact Helen Cameron.
Garden Maintenance: Caring for the property benefits us all and helps create a positive impression for visitors. There is a clipboard in the foyer listing various tasks which need to be done, with general guidelines for how often they need doing . Included is a weekly calendar to help keep track of when tasks were last done. Please check out the list and see how you might help, then sign off on the task once completed. Please talk to Don if you need more information.
