4th August 2019
Congregational meeting
We will have a short congregational meeting on Sunday the 18th to deal on the matter of signing up to the National Redress Scheme which deals with compensating sexually abused people without them needing lengthy and painful court proceeding. By coming under the denominational banner no individual congregation will have to pay compensation from it’s own funds even if the abuse is proven to have happened within that congregation. Most of all it is designed to provide care, relief and a measure of justice for those who have been abused which is a good thing.
Chaplaincy
Don will be at the annual Police Chaplaincy conference this Tuesday and Wednesday. Pray for all our chaplains connected to the police, defence forces and sporting clubs. It is often a ‘slow game of patience’ but you never know when fruitful conversations arise. I often explain my role as a sign that we appreciate what they do for us and that we want to provide any support we can – they always appreciate that even if they have made it clear that they are not religious.
1144 Car Park
It would be good to get back into the habit of having the last person out putting the chain back up. If the only other car left is in the portable car port that means you are the last one out! Thank you.

Special Event
August 21, 7:30-9:30pm — Why we need Jesus’ help with our sexualities. Ed Shaw will help us see how Jesus is just the man we need to help us with the sexual confusion we are all experiencing. We will “live stream” this from Moore Theological College, Sydney, in the same way we streamed the excellent Sam Allberry webinair conference in 2017.
Ed Shaw (pastor of Emmanuel City Centre, Bristol in the UK) experiences same-sex attraction and is committed to the biblical teaching of fidelity in heterosexual marriage and celibacy in singleness. He is one of the founders of www.livingout.org and author of ‘The Plausibility Problem’.
