31st March 2019
Two Retiring Offerings
We have two special opportunities to give to ministries of mercy through a retiring offering over the next month. 1) Today and next Sunday there is the opportunity to support Samaritan’s Purse supply of vital emergency relief to people caught up in the devastation cyclone Idai in Mozambique. This is possibly the worst weather related disaster in the Southern Hemisphere and the real death toll may never be known. 2) April 21 & 28 we will have the opportunity to give to our traditional Good Friday Appeal in support of the PCV Health and Community Chaplaincy Committee. As we are joining with other churches on Good Friday we will change our support for the HCCC ministries via a retiring offering.
Safe Church Advanced Training
This afternoon, beginning at 1:00pm. Afternoon tea will be available.
Combined Good Friday Service
Friday April 19 at 9:30 to 10:30am, at the Eltham Town Square. Please arrive early as there will be limited space and come prepared to stand if you are able (the service will be an estimated 45 minutes). A great opportunity to show Christian unity and witness to the community and to invite friends and family along.
Session News
1) The Session has set June 22 as a ministry and vision planning day which will set the foundation for a congregational wide opportunity to participate in thinking about where we are going as a congregation. This will take place during the second half of the year. It has been eight years since we last engaged in this process.
2) Organic Outreach for churches conference – April 13-14. Don and Ian Courts are planning to attend and would welcome anyone else from the congregation joining us for this two day event. Costs will be covered by our Training budget. This conference links in with plans for EPC ministry review and planning for 2019.
For the Love of God
How the Church is Better & Worse Than You Imagined
Next Sunday , April 7 at 3:00-4:30pm: Rich and Poor. This is the third of a four part documentary – a Level 2 event. It will be a casual, non-threatening event to invite a non-churched person to. Part 4 will be shown on April 14.
100 Day+ Bible Challenge
We trust you are enjoying the challenge and visiting parts of Scripture you may not have read for a while. If you got behind and feel you can’t catch up, just start with tomorrow’s reading and keep going from there. It is also OK to join in the challenge even if you haven’t already. The next half of the Challenge will be published before the end of April.
Youth Group Friday April 7
7:30pm – 9:30pm. This week we will “wrap it up” with music, festivities, prayer and food. Note: Dinner is not provided.
Gardening Team
We will meet again next Saturday, April 6 at 9:30 am. Main duties will be weeding, loosening the soil and maybe some pruning. Light refreshments will be provided.
