19th February 2017
Eldership Voting: The process of electing new elders started with a request for nominations from the congregation as to who you thought should consider the role of elder and do the two training courses offered in 2016. The end result of this process is that Ian Courts, Rob Cameron and David Graham are willing to take the next step and test the call to eldership by submitting to the voting of this congregation. Voting will be held Feb 26 & March 5. Don will preach on eldership next Sunday and voting papers will be available with the required instructions. This is a very important step in the life of EPC and we ask you to pray for God’s wisdom as we vote.
Licencing & Ordination: On Tuesday the Presbytery will set a date for Andy Buchan’s licencing and ordination. The suggestion to presbytery is that it be April [edit: date TBA] at EPC. This is the last step for Andy in terms of reaching his goal to be an ordained pastor in the Presbyterian Church of Australia.
Open Table Dinner: Our first dinner will be held next Sunday February 26 , commencing at 5:30 pm. The menu this time will include curry and rice, with vegetarians being catered for, as well as those who require gluten free and dairy free meals. Cost per meal will be $6 for adults and $4 for children. Under 3 are free. Please reply via the CONNECT form, an SMS or email to Taimi.
Youth Group: Youth Group kicks off this afternoon at 4 pm. Our theme for this term is “Soul: See why it all matters”. Enquiries to Andy.
Annual Reports: This year’s ACM has been set for April 23 . All reports need to be presented to the Session before they are printed and distributed so we recommend that all ministry reports be ready to table at the Session meeting to be held March 14 . These reports are an important way of informing the wider congregation of what happened at EPC in 2016.
Photocopier: The Board has entered a leasing arrangement for a new photocopier which is now installed in the office. The old one has been moved to the portable for easy access for the Sunday School teachers.
Evening Growth Groups: We started back this week, but if you’re still thinking you’d like to be part of one of our Bible study Growth Groups please talk to Don. Growth groups are an important way to deepen our everyday spiritual growth and our connections with each other.
LIFT (Ladies in Fellowship Together): We are looking for people to help organise activities for the ladies of our church. It would be good to have a number of people to join a sub committee, thus reducing the load for each person. Please speak to Andrea, Don or Andy if you’d like more information.
