October and November Roster Time

Hi EPC Members,
It’s roster time again! If you serve in any area at EPC, please take the time to fill out the availability form for October and November 2024 as soon as possible. It would be such a blessing as it would mean the rosters for these months can be completed well ahead of time. If you have any questions, please speak with or email Helen or email administration@elthampc.org.au for the availability form link.
Thank you everyone for all you do in helping to serve EPC on the roster.
Bookstall
A small bookstall will run for the next few weeks. The feature book is, The Air We Breathe by Glen Scrivener. It is the basis for our current series, The Jesus Revolution, and will not only help you to be more confident about the positive impact of Christianity on the world we live in but it will also make a good book to lead to a non-Christian who is willing to revisit some of their misconceptions about Christianity.
There are three other books to help us with our confidence in the Gospel and how to naturally share our faith with people who seem uninterested, especially Making Faith Magnetic.
On a very different theme we have copies of Embracing Complementarianism and God’s Good Design. These two books tackle the issues of male leadership in the church setting and the ministry roles of women within the body of Christ. The first one takes a positive look on how this can be put into practice and the second one goes more into the teaching of Scripture on this matter. If enough people are interested, we could set up a small ‘reading club’ to come together and discuss these books, especially the first one.
On the Road Conference - Geelong

Hi Ladies,
Today is the day to book in for On the Road in Geelong if you're keen to come. It will be a great encouragement to meet with other women and to think about how to disciple and love those around you in practical ways.
Bec and Christy are heading down together and would love to fill the car! You can book online and then contact Bec or email administration@elthampc.org.au to arrange a lift.
Women's Prayer & Coffee
This is your monthly reminder that Women's Prayer and Coffee is coming up again.
If you've come before, you'll know that it's an encouraging morning, praying for the church and each other and sharing some morning tea. If you haven't been before, we'd love to see you! Please pop it in your diary for Wednesday 4th September!
Email administration@elthampc.org.au for more information.
Bibles for Malawi
We are joining an Australia wide appeal for the Presbyterian church to raise funds for 100 Bibles for 100 poor villages in Malawi. We will show a video introducing this appeal on Sunday. Gifts can be made through online banking with the reference: Malawi.
In November we will have another appeal - Bibles for the Persecuted. This is something we once did annually through the Bible League.
Food Share
We know that there are many families in Australia struggling to put food on their tables let alone pay their mortgages. It is a privilege to see families from our fellowship support others, by either, donating financially, or through our food share box. If you are able to help fill our FoodShare collection box, it is much appreciated, we would love to see it overflowing!
Foodshare have kindly asked that we exclude from our donations, pasta, rice, cereal, oats and baked beans due to an oversupply of these items. All other non-perishable food items are very welcome. Some extra items that Foodshare do need are toilet paper, coffee, personal soap and medium size washing powder/liquid
Direct donations can also be made to Diamond Valley Foodshare.
Their bank details are:
Account Name: Diamond Valley Foodshare

Thank you for supporting this cause,
Lyn and Judy
Samaritans Purse: Christmas Shoe Boxes
We have begun filling shoeboxes for children in various countries. Last year we sent 110 boxes overseas through Samaritan’s Purse. If you are not able to fill a box, but would like to participate in Operation Christmas Child, donations of individual items for a box or money, especially to cover the cost of transport for, the boxes are very welcome and appreciated.
We pray you are enjoying doing your own search for items to put smiles onto the faces of the many children who will receive them. It is a hands-on way for you to bless children in need across the world and it means so much to the children who will receive them. Samaritan’s Purse distributes them in the name of Jesus Christ to children living in vulnerable situations.
What's really exciting, is that each child who receives a shoebox, has the opportunity to enroll in The Greatest Journey – a dynamic, 12-lesson Bible study course that guides them through what it means to faithfully follow Jesus Christ.
Boxes and leaflets are available in the church foyer.
The boxes will be collected on Sunday October 13th, so we can deliver them to the drop-off place.
