Memory Verse Challenge
Kids, remember to come up to Andy with your memory verse from last week (Romans 4:3). Learn a memory verse during the week and share it with him next Sunday before or after the service to receive a prize. This week’s passage: “Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them.” (Romans 4:7-8)
March for Babies
The Presbyterian Church of Australia affirms that the right to life extends to the unborn, because all life is sacred in the eyes of God and is a gift of God from the moment of conception. March for Babies is a peaceful witness to the importance of life starting from conception. The annual march will be from Treasury Gardens to Parliament House starting at 1pm, October 12. There will also be inspirational speakers and music and a message of courage and hope.
Sunday School Teachers and Parents
On Sunday October 20 there will be a short meeting after morning tea for information and feedback on our SS, Stepping Up Youth and Youth Group programs looking at 2019 and forward to 2020. It would be great to have as many teachers and parents there as possible.
BYO Picnic
We are planning to have a BYO picnic after church on October 27. It will most likely be at Westerfolds. Please plan to join us for a fun and casual outing together.
Working Bee
The Board of Management have set Saturday November 30 for our next working bee. There is a long list of things to do to keep our property maintained and in presentable condition.
Growth Groups
Our groups take a break during school holidays and resume next term.
Eltham Festival Outreach 2019
You’re invited to come and be involved at this year’s Eltham Festival at our ‘Think Life Think Jesus’ tent. We need people willing to help with setup and pack up, ‘front line’ positions, gospel bracelets, and with a Prayer & Psalm reading spot. Please speak to Andy if you would like to help or sign up for a timeslot in the foyer. Consider Colossians 4:2-6 & 1 Peter 3:15.
General Assembly
The annual General Assembly is on October 7-10 and Don, Andy and Ian Courts will be attending. The GA is responsible for the wider work of our denomination. Most years the clerk provides us with a summary of the decisions made to make available for printing. Anyone is welcome to come into 156 Collins Street for this event but there are times we have to meet in private and will ask you to leave the balcony area.
Samaritans Purse
We are supporting Samaritans Purse Christmas Child Appeal again this year. The school holidays are a good opportunity to collect items for the shoe boxes. You have boys and girls ages 2 to 4 years, 5 to 9 years and 10 to 14 years to choose from. Collection date will be late October or Early November. A date has yet to be decided. Please contact Judy Flett for any questions.
Save the Date!
Our Eltham Festival Outreach is coming up on Sunday 10th November. Please be prayerful about this opportunity, and sign up to be involved from next week, or have a chat to Andy.
New Church Directory
Please get your replies to Melody’s email concerning your entry in the new Directory ASAP. Without your permission, your/your family will not be included.
