Welcoming DDT:  August 13 at 7 pm we continue a Deeper Discipleship Training workshop on the practical side of what it means to be a welcoming congregation. The more we grow the more we have to make an effort to maintain a welcoming culture. Tonight’s focus will be on how we connect with and welcome visitors, with practical advice which will help us be better at starting conversations with new people. This workshop is for everyone who wants EPC to have a welcoming culture and wants to learn to be an effective part of this culture.

Special Conference: On Wednesday August 16 we are stopping our normal ministries to live-stream a conference on the Gospel and Human Sexuality being held in Sydney. The keynote speaker is author Sam Allberry who has struggled with same sex attraction all his life but is totally committed to the biblical definition of marriage being between a man and a woman. The conference starts at 9:30am and finishes at 4:00pm. You may come for 1-2 sessions only if you wish. A flyer with the program is on the table in the foyer, along with a sign up sheet to help us cater for morning and afternoon tea.

Christianity Explored: It’s not too late to bring someone along this Thursday night August 17 , at 8:00 pm in the hall. Speak to Andy for further details or share the videos and invite a friend via thinklifethinkjesus.org

Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child: Today, August 13 is the collection day for the shoe boxes. If you have forgotten your shoe boxes and would like them collected, please contact Maxine Fowler 94397971. Thank you to all those who have filled the shoe boxes or donated money for the distribution of the shoe boxes. Thank you, Maxine Fowler and Judy Flett

Open Table: The next Open Table is on August 27 at 5:30 pm in the hall. Whether you know them as Souvlakis, Kebabs, Gyros or Yiros, “it’s all Greek to me”! Flat bread, tasty meat, salad and condiments… what can go wrong? (NB there will also be meat-free tastiness) Please come, bring your friends and RSVP via the Connect Form. PS: If you want to know more about contributing, many hands make light work. From moving furniture to using kitchen appliances – either talk to Taimi or indicate on the CONNECT Form.

Safe Church Training Dates: Two dates are now available for those who need to attend this basic training. Saturday 2nd September (10.30am – 1.45pm) at EPPING PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 773 High Street, Epping OR Saturday 16th September 2017 –  9.30am – 12.45pm at SCOTS’ PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH,  Robert White Hall, 156 Collins Street, CBD. More details at www.safechurchpcv.org.au

Weeding Team: Even though we have had below average rainfall recently the weeds are doing very well! It would be great if we could get a team or two together to come and work on the church gardens. Doing it with other people would add a layer of fellowship to make it more enjoyable and speed up the process. A sign up sheet is on the small table. Thank you.

Men’s Event: Our next event will be our Journeys of Faith Testimony night to be held in the hall on Saturday August 19 at 7.30 pm. Steve Williams and 2 other men from our congregation will share their testimonies with us. Your attendance will be a great encouragement to those sharing, and to all of us who hear what they have to say. We will share supper together to round off the night.

Only Just: Fair Trade Fortnight Draw at the Only Just store. Any customer who makes a purchase in-store between Monday August 7 and Saturday 19 will be entered in a draw for a $50 voucher.      6 runners up will win a pair of conscious Step socks. There is no minimum spend.
